About This Journey

The Kunlun range spans 2,500 km across Xinjiang, Tibet and Qinghai — revered as the ancestor of all mountains. This route follows the northern Kunlun foothills through the Golmud region, crossing Kunlun Pass (4,767 m) and Jade Pearl Peak Base Camp (5,038 m) to reach the legendary Pillar of Heaven. The journey blends high-altitude trekking, stargazing, stone-rubbing workshops and Daoist culture lectures, co-led by a Kunlun geologist and a certified mountain guide. Accommodation includes high-altitude tent camps and Golmud hotels with medical oxygen and hyperbaric bags.

The Kunlun journey exceeded all expectations. Stepping into the Jade Void Palace, clouds surged like ascending dragons — it felt like truly touching a legendary realm. Our guide knew every Daoist tale. During meditation by the Yaochi pool, a sun halo appeared. This wasn't a trip; it was a cultivation.

As a cultivation novel fan, walking the actual Kunlun range was indescribable. Day 3's cliff climb was challenging but well-secured with full guide support. The stargazing session was the highlight — seeing the Milky Way at 4,000m elevation felt like reaching out to the celestial realm.

Joined as a family retreat — my elderly parents were more engaged than us younger folks! The Daoist medicine workshop at Jade Void Palace deeply impressed my father, and my mother still has her Yaochi poem framed in her study. Accommodations and vegetarian cuisine were exquisite for high altitude. Only regret: five days wasn't enough.
